What CareList is and how it fits together
The handful of concepts every other article builds on.
CareList helps hospitals and diagnostic centres run clinical checklists and quality audits, track laboratory and imaging orders, follow up on what fails, and keep biomedical equipment maintained. This article explains the vocabulary used everywhere else in the help center.
Two company types
| Type | What you get |
|---|---|
| Hospital | Everything, including Patients (admitted patients and care plans) and Diagnostics (in-house lab and imaging orders). |
| Diagnostic centre | Everything except Patients: there are no admitted patients. Diagnostics is in the bottom bar. |
The building blocks
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Checklist (template) | A reusable list of questions, such as a Hand Hygiene Audit or Daily Internal QC. Managers build it once. |
| Assignment (task) | A checklist given to a person, several people or a team, with an optional due date and repeat. |
| Inspection | One completed run of a checklist. It stores the answers, score, photos and who did it. |
| Patient | An admitted patient with UHID, ward and bed (hospitals). A care plan schedules checklists for the bed. |
| Test order | A laboratory or imaging order with an accession number such as DX-000123, a sample label and a status. |
| Corrective action | A follow-up task, usually created when something fails. It has an owner, a priority and a due date. |
| Equipment | A medical or facility device with a tag, category and optional meter reading. |
| Work order | A maintenance job on equipment: repair, preventive service or inspection follow-up. |
| Campus and location | A campus is a hospital building or centre branch. A location is a place inside it, such as a ward, OT, lab or MRI suite. |
The everyday loop
- A manager builds (or installs) a checklist and assigns it, or it is attached to a patient or a test order.
- A nurse or technician gets a notification, opens it on a phone and runs it.
- Answers are scored. A manager may need to approve the result.
- A failed question creates a corrective action. A breakdown becomes a work order.
- Managers and the quality team review history, analytics and reports.
