Protocol checklists on test orders

Checklists attached automatically when an order is registered, and how to add more.

Attached automatically

When an order is registered, CareList attaches a protocol checklist to it:

Department Checklist attached
Laboratory Sample Collection Checklist
Imaging Imaging Safety Screening

This only happens if the checklist with that exact name is installed and published. Both come from the template library: the Diagnostic Laboratory and Radiology & Imaging packs. Hospitals and diagnostic centres get these packs automatically, but you still need to publish the checklists.

The checklist appears on the order page. Open it there, answer the questions and complete it as usual (Run an inspection). Patient details and the accession number are shown at the top.

Add other checklists

From the order page you can add any other published checklist, for example:

  • MRI Safety Screening or Contrast Administration Check before an MRI or contrast CT
  • Sample Receiving & Rejection Check when the sample reaches the lab
  • Home Collection Kit & Transport Check for a home collection
  • Critical Value Communication when a critical result is phoned through

When an order is cancelled or rejected

Cancelling or rejecting an order closes its open checklists. Completed checklists stay on the order as a record.
