Your day
- Before a home-collection run, complete Home Collection Kit & Transport Check if it is in Tasks.
- For each patient, register the order (or open the one the front desk registered) and print the label.
- Collect, label the tubes in front of the patient, and complete the Sample Collection Checklist.
- Tap Mark as sample collected. Then send the samples to the lab.
- Check Notifications for rejected samples that need recollecting.
Step by step
Register an order
- Open Diagnostics and tap + New order.
- Under Patient, fill in Patient name (required), Patient ID / UHID, Age, Gender, Phone and Referring doctor. In a hospital you can pick an admitted patient from the list to fill these in.
- Under Order, choose Laboratory, then list the tests in Tests / studies requested (comma or one per line, for example
CBC, LFT, HbA1c). - Set Priority (Routine · TAT 24h, Urgent · TAT 4h, STAT · TAT 1h) and Source: Walk-in, Home collection, OPD or IPD.
- Add Clinical notes / preparation, for example fasting status.
- Leave Attach the protocol checklist ticked.
- Tap Register order.
The order gets an accession number such as DX-000007, and the Sample Collection Checklist is attached for you, due in 30 minutes. The TAT clock starts now.
Print the sample label
- On the order, tap Sample label. It opens in a new tab.
- Choose how many labels: 1×, 2× (the default), 3× or 4×.
- Tap Print. Labels are 50 × 25 mm.
Each label shows the accession number, name, ID, age and sex, the tests, the time, the priority (if not Routine) and a QR code. The QR holds no patient details. Scanning it opens the order for signed-in staff.
Complete the Sample Collection Checklist
- On the order, under Checklists, tap Start.
- Answer Pass / Fail / N/A: Patient identified with 2 identifiers, Test order and requisition match, Fasting / preparation status checked, Correct tubes in correct order of draw, Tubes labelled at the bedside / chair, Hand hygiene and gloves used and Sharps disposed immediately.
- Pick the Sample types collected and fill in Collection time.
- Under Phlebotomist, type your full name and sign with your finger.
- Tap Submit inspection.
Mark the sample collected
Back on the order, tap Mark as sample collected. Your name is recorded as Collected by.
Home collection kit check
- Tasks → Home Collection Kit & Transport Check → Start.
- Fill in Collector name. Before you leave, confirm the tubes, needles and labels, the Cool box with ice packs (2–8 °C), the sharps container and the spill kit.
- On your return, record Cool box temperature at return (°C) and Samples delivered to lab within stability time.
- Sign and tap Submit inspection.
Cancel an order
If the patient does not turn up, tap Reject / cancel. Pick Patient did not turn up or Duplicate order as the reason and tap Close order. Your role can cancel but not reject: the lab rejects samples.
